This lab is in suspension until we find participants
with the necessary skills and talents to make it happen.

 

 

This represents advanced paratheatre work. Vocal talent and previous
experience in paratheatre or related processes required. Focus will be on
accessing "verticality" -- sources of energy innate to the vertical axis of the
physical body and the internal landscape -- while singing a 13th century sacred
Armenian song and developing precise movement forms guided by the melody.

 

 

Techniques from the Song-as-Vehicle and Alchemy labs will comprise the
basic ritual structures. "Sirt im sasani", an early Armenian choral work,
(see MP3 music file below) will be learned towards strengthening vocal,
harmonic and melodic skills while discovering precise movements and
actions motivated by the silent impulses within the melody itself.
This project will culminate in public performances.
