THIS LAB IS OPEN TO THOSE WITH NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE
IN THIS
PARATHEATRE WORK. SEE 'ENROLLMENT DETAILS' BELOW.
The first initiation is Self-initiation -- the exposure of oneself to oneself.
This means to leave the self-conscious watcher behind and enter the
circle of participation. Words...images...explanations all belong to
the watcher. To the participant -- experience is everything.

This BASICS LAB is dedicated to the training of
movement, ritual, and vocal skills innate to this
paratheatre medium in three areas of work:
SHADOW WORK
Rituals and movement forms that expose unconscious and often self-destructive attitudes, complexes, and beliefs towards their transformation into more creative expression and spontaneity. This process can be supported and accomplished with technique work.
TECHNIQUE WORK
The structural integrity of this ritual technology is maintained by a web of techniques that include: No-Form, Polarizations, Contact Point, Vocalizations, Verticality, The Warm-Up Cycles, Resonance, Service, Containment, Immersion, Movement Vocabulary, Spatial Awareness, Jogging Forms. The purpose of technique is to bring more precision to the expression of source work.
SOURCE WORK
Nurtures a more direct experience of the currents of energy in the body itself and also, throughout the internal landscape. This process deepens the capacity for giving oneself totally to a given source, force, or state, towards a more embodied engagement and expression of presence, action, stillness, sound, and gesture.
NOTE: This is a non-performance lab.
The "pressure to perform" will be released and replaced by the self-created
pressures of building internal commitment to presence, expression, and action.

ENTRY BY INTERVIEW AND/OR INVITATION FROM THE DIRECTOR. THIS BASICS LAB IS OPEN TO THOSE WITH NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IN THIS PARATHEATRE MEDIUM OR TO THOSE WITH PREVIOUS LAB EXPERIENCE WHO FEEL READY FOR A 'BASICS LAB' .
