The ZERO Lab
A Paratheatre Training Workshop with Antero Alli
THIS LAB DISCONTINUED AFTER JANUARY 2017.

The 5-phase Physical Warm-Up that starts each session

The ZERO Lab combines methods of physical theatre,
dance, vocalization, and Zazen meditation to access and
express the internal landscape. These methods are presented
in four overlapping areas in a non-performance setting:

SOURCE WORK
The immersive experience of direct intuitive engagement with, and expression of, autonomous sources of energy in the body in conscious, full-bodied surrender to their influence. Source work expands access to the internal landscape that can be advanced and clarifed through technique work.

TECHNIQUE WORK
Applying the trigger methods of inner and outer actions, No-Form practicePolarizations, Vocalizations, VerticalityThe 5-Phase Physical Warm-Up, Movement Vocabulary work, Spatial Awareness, and Jogging FormsTechnique work tempers source work towards greater precision, economy and clarity of form.

EMBODIED VOICE WORK
Synthesizing source work and technique work to expand tonal resonance and vocal range in motion, stillness, and presence. Embodied voice work gives vocal and melodic expression to the body's innate resources of impulse, emotion, and vitality; the voice as instrument.

SHADOW WORK
Exposure, access, and embodied expression of repressed emotions, fears, resistances, unconscious complexes and fixations, towards their acceptance, transformation and/or release. Shadow work gives expression to a dynamic visceral process of making the unconscious conscious that can find support through  technique and voice work.

Zero Lab, Spring 2016, Portland OR

When the external "pressure to perform" is relaxed and replaced
by the self-created pressures of increasing one's commitment to
the action or experience at hand, a door opens towards
the total offering of self.
