SPRING 2015
The Ritual Song Lab
Nine Thursday Nights, 8pm to 11pm.
April 23rd through June 18th, 2015.
At the Finnish Hall, 1970 Chestnut (upstairs) Berkeley.
Facilitated by Antero Alli and Sylvi Alli.

LAB INTENT

We will apply paratheatre trigger methods and embodied voice techniques to give expression to rhythm and melody through movement, gesture, and asocial interactions. One simple song ("Pusta Mladost") and vocal exercises introduced by Sylvi will be augmented by Antero's techniques for sourcing energies in the body towards their expression in sound, song, and action -- song in motion -- ritual song. The group will eventually be divided into two sub-groups - melodics and drones - towards their interaction in ritual song.

PARTICIPANT LIST
NICK WALKER, ALASKA YAMADA, JOJO RAZOR, ANDREW REICHART,
MATTHEW JAFFE, JAYA MILLER, JENNIFER BRUCE, DANIEL LARLHAM,
ANTERO ALLI, and SYLVI ALLI

Sylvi Alli and Antero Alli

Sylvi Alli is an accomplished singer, composer, and musician who teaches voice workshops and classes.  Her embodied voice work is deeply influenced by the dynamic movement and vocal processes of ParaTheatrical ReSearch of which she has been a core member since 1996. Sylvi has produced multiple CDs of her original music and songs, including several soundtracks for her husband Antero's films.

Antero Alli is founder/director of ParaTheatrical ReSearch (since 1977), a training ground that combines techniques of physical theatre, dance, voice, and Zazen to access and express the internal landscape. Antero is the author of "Towards an Archeology of the Soul", a paratheatre workbook, and the producer of two dvds ("Orphans of Delirium" and "Dreambody/Earthbody") demonstrating his paratheatre work.
